Meet the Staff

Aileen Mann

Business owner, AKA:  the bosslady.

Aileen opened Atlantic Offshore Adventures in 2015. With 26 years of working in the outdoors under her belt, Aileen has seen it all and knows exactly how to show people the best way to enjoy the best of what the Wild Atlantic Way has to offer. Aileen has a degree in Outdoor Learning and is also a WSA qualified Instructor Trainer in Kayaking, Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Surfing – which means that all training can be done in house! Aileen is also a certified dog-lover, and can be spotted walking her two (bears) dogs around. She is also most commonly known around town as ‘the one with the sunglasses.’ No, she never takes them off in case you’re wondering.

Karen

Manager

Karen joined the Atlantic Offshore Adventure team in 2021 and has 15 years of experience working in the outdoors. Karen has a degree in Outdoor Education and is a qualified instructor in an array of sports, namely Stand-Up -Paddle Boarding, Surfing, Power-boating, Rock Climbing and Sailing. She is also a WSA qualified instructor trainer in Kayaking to add to the impressive list. Karen is the least like any Karen you know. Her plethora of knowledge of the outdoors as well as her friendly personality makes her invaluable as a right hand woman to the business.

Josh

Surf Instructor & Lifeguard

Josh began working with Atlantic Offshore Adventures in 2021 and has gone from strength to strength as a surf instructor ever since! Josh’s helping hand in the refurbishing and remodelling of the surf bus was two-fold in its success.When the bus arrived down to Garretstown Josh was doe-eyed with love. Ever since, Josh has maintained the bus with the utmost of care putting his mechanical skills to use. However, Josh’s real talent is running a well-rounded, enjoyable lesson. When Josh isn’t surfing at Garretstown, he can be found planning his next surfing excursion. Or pretending he is good at golf

Rachel

Kayak & Stand Up Paddle Board Instructor

Rachel started working with Atlantic Offshore Adventures in the summer of 2021. Born and bred in Kinsale, Rachel knows all the best spots around the Kinsale harbour and ensures a jam packed Kayak Tour or SUP lesson – between swimming in and out of caves, seaweed tasting and seal spotting, you’re sure to have an eventful session with Rachel. Not to mention Rachel’s most certainly got the gift of the gab, so be prepared to hear all about the history of Kinsale, the fact she studies law and she was the lead of a small town secondary school play (her only claim to fame). Rachel exudes enthusiasm, so by the end of the day your ears may be burnt off you but you’ll be leaving with a smile on your face.

Sarah

Kayak, Sailing & Powerboat Instructor

Sarah joined the Atlantic Offshore Adventure team this summer and her love for working on the water was clear from the get-go. Sarah’s capabilities as an instructor extend across kayaking, dinghy sailing and power boating. Sarah’s bright personality and great knowledge of the waters of the Kinsale harbour make for a very enjoyable kayaking sessions!  Just be prepared for her to tell you how much she loves Taylor Swift. Warning – it’s a lot.

Max

Surf Instructor

Max joined Atlantic Offshore Adventures in 2022 and instantly became our resident cool surfer dude. Max’s natural talent for surfing as well as his easy going attitude means that he is an ideal surf instructor. As well as this, Max lends his time to designing and making surf boards! From dings to shaping to surfing – Max has it all! When Max isnt surfing, he spends his time trying to convince us that his tik toks ideas are funny, the answer to that debate is to be confirmed.

Jamie

Surf Instructor

Jamie began working with Atlantic Offshore Adventures in 2021 however, he was practically born with a surf board under his arm. Taking to the water from a very young age, Jamie possess all the essential elements to make a great surf instructor. Jamie is aspiring to be the Irish version of the Hawaiian Water Man excelling in surfing, sailing, kayaking & wing-foiling, but he’ll always be best known for his welcoming smile at the surf bus. The only time Jamie’s smile will leave his face is when Hannah wants to record tik toks of him – very uncooperative.

Hannah

Kayaking Instructor and Social Media Manager

Described as a ‘self-interviewer’, it seems Aileen had no option but to hire Hannah this summer  – although, we are so happy she did. Hannah’s spirited and kind personality, as well as her impressive work ethic and love for the water means that she is the perfect kayak instructor. Destined to make you laugh, Hannah’s epic story-telling will have you giggling the whole way through the session. Not only is Hannah a talented kayak instructor but her expertise extend to the social media management of AOA and the updating of the website. Hannah brings a positive and energetic  vibe to the team, however we do wish she would stop telling us about her time in America. We get it.

Sean

Surf Instructor

Sean began his time with AOA as a trainee surf instructor in 2022 and has since become fully qualified and a great asset to the surf bus team! Sean’s great sense of humour and team working skills mean he is very popular among our clients, summer camps and staff. Sean lives in Garretstown for the summers so he’s ourresident blow in. Because sean isn’t a local he always needs a daily ego boost to make sure he feels fully apart of the locale. This mainly consists of telling him his jokes are funny and his tik toks are funny. Sean happens to have excellent TikTok making abilities, making him even more likeable!!!

Fin

Surf Instructor

Fin is our trainee surf instructor this season but his surf capabilities are far beyond his years. Originally from Australia, Fin grew up surf life-saving and has much experience surfing the waves down under. Talented at Jiu Jitsu also, Fin likes to remind the rest of the lads at the surf bus that while he is the youngest, he is by no means the weakest! Once Fin starred as Zach Efron in his school show’s version of The Greatest Showman… All we will say is leave the trapeze tricks to someone else next time. An excellent surfer and surf instructor in the making, we are lucky to have Fin on our team!

Charlie

Kayaking Instructor

Charlie began working with Atlantic Offshore Adventures in the summer of 2022 and God, are we happy he did. Charlie is the AOA ray of sunshine and his hilarious one-liners will definitely have you chuckling on your kayak sessions. Charlie’s knowledge of the Kinsale waters as well as his comedic timing makes for a very entertaining kayak session. His flair for eccentric socks also gives the staff much amusement.

Conor

HR Manager, Lifeguard, Surf Instructor, Staff Liasion Officer

Conor is undoubtedly apart of the furniture by now. Starting in 2020, Conor simply has not been able to leave AOA. Although this year Conor might not be running camps or lessons, he’s still working within 30 seconds of us. Conor is a beach lifeguard for Garretstown, doing fantastic work at keeping the public safe and happy. Conor was a highly enthusiastic, fun, and friendly Surf Instructor during his full time days with us, leading great camps, lessons, and rentals. Conor still holds a place in AOA as self-proclaimed  ‘HR Manager’ and ‘Staff Liasion Officer’. A.K.A Conor has been the reason for majority of the staff’s employment through his stellar references.
